The 2018 Emmy nominations have been unveiled, coming in with new table turn-around. For the first time in the history of the Emmys, a Asian-Canadian actress scores a nod in the Lead Actress Drama Series category – Sandra Oh.
HBO has led the list of nominees for the past 18 years, but this time the odds went against them as rivalry TV network Netflix takes the lead with a total of 112 as against HBO’s 108.
The 2018 Emmy nominations were announced by The Handmaid’s Tale actress, Samira Wiley and New Amsterdam actor, Ryan Eggold along with Television Academy chairman and CEO, Hayma Washington and president and COO, Maury Mclntyre.
The 70th annual primetime Emmys are set to air on NBC for the first time since 2004 on Sunday, September 17, from the Microsoft Theatre in downtown Los Angeles. Colin Jost and Michael Che will host the show.
