Harry Styles in race to play Elvis Presley in Baz Luhrmann’s biopic adaptation

Expectations are high inside Hollywood as Harry Styles is in the race to play Elvis in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis Presley biopic.

Prior to the announcement of who will play the Elvis role in subsequent weeks to come, Styles as well as Ansel Elgort, Miles Teller, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Austin Butler have all tested to secure the lead spot in the developing musical/drama picture. Out of all five, who have auditioned for the role, Styles forms part of the three (Ansel, Austin), who have a musical background aside their acting talent on screen.

The former ‘One Direction’ member made his acting debut in Christopher Nolan’s 2017 drama movie ‘Dunkirk’ where he played the role of a soldier sent on a mission.

Oscar winner Tom Hanks has already signed on to play Elvis manager Colonel Tom Parker, who according to Vogue supervised every aspect of the’ King of Rock and Roll’s’ career from the mid-1950s till his time of death in 1977. The project will be supervised by Warner Bros. and tell the story of the late entertainer’s rise and zenith to fame, with much focus on his relationship with Parker.

Craig Pearce together with Luhrmann have penned down the script for the upcoming film and await production to start soon after the lead role announcement.
