Winners’ list at 26th annual SAG Awards

At the 2020 Screen Actors Guild Awards last night, January 19, ‘Parasite’ became the first foreign language film ever to win best performance by a cast in a motion picture (equivalent best picture at any other award ceremony).

In the film categories, Joaquin Phoenix ‘Joker’ and Renee Zellweger ‘Judy’ received best actor and best actress honors respectively. ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ star Brad Pitt was awarded best supporting actor, while ‘Marriage Story’ star Laura Dern won for best supporting actress.

Jennifer Aniston received her first solo best actress award with ‘The Morning Show’ in the drama series category. Peter Dinklage of ‘Game of Thrones’ fame was named best supporting actor in a drama series. Cast of ‘The Crown’ won best ensemble for a drama series.

At the comedy front, ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ was awarded best cast ensemble, leaving the best actor and best actress statuettes to Tony Shalhoub ‘The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ and Phoebe Waller-Bridge ‘Fleabag’ respectively.

Michelle Williams and Sam Rockwell were both crowned best actor and best actress in a TV movie or miniseries for their performance in ‘Fosse/Verdon’. Prior to the main show, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ with its cast members was named outstanding action performance for film, while ‘Game of Thrones’ was honored with outstanding action performance for television.

Robert De Niro took home the 56th SAG Lifetime Achievement award presented to him by Leonardo DiCaprio. The show was telecast live on TNT and TBS from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.
