‘We Will Rock You’ musical concert to relaunch after 17-year hiatus

Queen lovers! It’s time for a second ‘We Will Rock You’ musical show.

Announced by Annerin Theatricals, producers of the show, the concert will kick off on September 3, in Winnipeg, Canada, with later dates to be scheduled for New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Denver and Toronto. The show, which is described as a quirky, eccentric and heartfelt story of outsiders will feature more than 24 songs form the collection of Queen’s hit songs, including; We Are the Champions, Radio Gaga, I Want to Break Free, Killer Queen, Under Pressure, Another One Bites the Dust and the famous ‘Bohemian Rhapsody.

Speaking of the upcoming ‘We Will Rock You’ show, Jeff Parry, president of Annerin Theatricals disclosed in a statement, “Annerin is proud to be able to produce We Will Rock You, and we are obviously lucky with our timing. This is a show I have wanted to produce since I first saw it in London. My vision was to be able to produce it in such a way that it plays in soft-seaters as well as cut-down arenas.”

Hinting on the changes coming the shows way, Perry said, “I thought that Queen’s musical was for everyone and not just the typical Broadway crowd, therefore we’re producing it in a way that can accommodate most buildings and audiences that want to experience the music of Queen in a uniquely theatrical manner.”

Queen enjoyed a massive popularity during the 2019 awards season with ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ which was a film adaptation centered around the band’s late front-man ‘Freddie Mercury. Upon grabbing best film ‘musical’ at the Golden Globes, best actor wins for the film’s lead character Rami Malek and an opening performance from the band at the Oscars. ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ scored $800 million globally, after its debut in cinemas on November 2, 2018.

‘We Will Rock You’ recorded its first show in 2002 at London’s Dominion Theatre. The upcoming show will also feature a book and original direction by Ben Elton.  Casting for the concert is underway and tickets are also on sale from today, April 2.
