Old local TV shows to pass the time during lockdown

For television show lovers observing the 14-day stay home directive, the approved memo scripted inside their daily activity for the grace period reads, ‘Do a little bit of work and watch as many shows as possible’. The matter of getting the right response to the question, ‘Did you watch that show?’ soon after social gathering gets reinstated in the manual of human movement is a core objective that cannot be overlooked for another.

Thanks to the services of streaming platforms such as Netflix, Apple TV Plus, Hulu, Iroko TV and others, getting swamped in the pool of newly released shows for the day is not a far-fetched itinerary. In as much as these new shows come along with their own appreciation to the landscape of television, soap operas at the start of the 21st century still hold as a template to which the narrative of television shows are about.

In the past years, popular media stations in Ghana such as; TV3, Metro TV and GTV were home for everything good TV series had to offer. The likes of ‘Things We Do for Love’, ‘Dada Boat’, ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Sun City’, ‘Home Sweet Home’ etc. had their airing moments on the listed stations, and to anyone that counted him/herself as part of the cult to any of the mentioned shows, a minute or second miss to its start was recorded as a ‘no good habit not be repeated’.

Although scrapped off the programming hours of existing stations, the still active streaming platform YouTube is now home to these small screen titles. To help you navigate the small-screen offerings in the early 2000s while staying devoted to the stay home directive, here are some of the best TV shows of that time available on You Tube to watch freely.
