Bella Naija Style Women’s Month 2022 – #BreakTheBias

Africa’s leading tech-driven fashion media platform BellaNaija Style, returned with the 2nd edition of its impactful women’s month activities for 2022. Now in its second year, BellaNaija Style Women’s Month focused on the celebration, enlightenment and upliftment of women in the fashion, beauty and lifestyle industry.

Building on the success of the inaugural edition in 2021, BNStyle leveraged the power of its platforms during the month-long event centering on the theme #BreakTheBias – which was this year’s International Women’s Day theme.

One of the main activations was the #BNSConvos – a weekly series of in-depth conversations which connected top media experts, fashion entrepreneurs and leading creatives with a mega women-centric audience. The keynote interview was with Cuppy Otedola who spoke on Thriving in a Male-Dominated Industry. The platform recorded over 67k viewers who joined the live discussions this year. In addition to this, #BNSWomensMonth22 also provided a platform for the amplification of women-owned businesses through weekly shoutouts, giveaways and select features.

To conclude the four weeks of impact, BellaNaija Style hosted some of the incredible women who made this year’s activities a great success at an exclusive event in Lagos. Last year, in the wake of the pandemic, the closing event was held virtually with a live concert with DJ Lambo.

This year’s physical event was a step in the right direction to connect key conversationalists and foster credible connections between African women in the media industry.

Tagged #HighTeawithBNS, the attendees which included Nonye Udeogwu, Stephanie Coker Aderinokun, Eki Ogunbor, Tubo Sandrah, Adedoyin Somuyiwa, Lehlé Balde, among others were transported to a Bridgeton-esque space with fresh flowers, pretty cocktails, vintage tea sets and a curated menu that introduced all present to a true high tea experience. BellaNaija Style’s Head of Content, Mary Edoro, in her opening remark explained the passion and drive behind the annual Women’s Month activities.

“BellaNaija Style attracts a varied audience with 85% made up of women of all ages, that is why our women’s month initiative is very important to us. Every activity, discussion, and interaction is strategically selected each year for our #BellaStylistas – to celebrate, to inspire and to empower.”
