Meet the lush new skincare brand Luna Skins by Founder and Creative director Luna Seto, launched last month. The aim was to create a vegan friendly, all-natural ingredients skincare brand. We virtually speak with Luna and discuss why she decided to create a vegan brand and the challenges of an entrepreneur.
Hi Luna, can you tell us what inspired you to create Luna Skincare, and what is the story so far?
I started making skincare products at home at the age of 14 as I am very passionate about natural ingredients. I experimented on weekends and during school holidays. My passion for home remedies and skincare has brought me to where I am today. Over the years, I continued making my own skincare products and sending them to friends and family. A dream became reality when launching my own vegan skincare brand which is an all-natural plant-based range.
You incorporate Arabica Coffee in your products, what are the benefits to the skin?
Arabica Coffee is a source of nutrients and antioxidants which have multiple benefits for the skin; caffeine stimulates blood flow which can help the skin to naturally tighten. Coffee reduces inflammation and protect against some strains of bacteria. Also known for treating acne, breakouts, dead skin cells and unclog the pores. It works wonders on the skin and our products are an example of this!
The vegan beauty industry is gaining momentum. Tell us why you decided to start a vegan brand?
As I mentioned, our products are plant-based packed with antioxidants, minerals, and natural oils. Vegan skincare nourishes our skin with goodness and it is very important to feed our skin with non-toxic skincare as we are exposed to so much population when out and about so why do more harm to your skin. I feel veganism is growing and becoming part of normal life. It’s something I feel strongly about especially within skincare.
Have you come across any challenges since starting the business and how do you overcome them?
It has been very challenging as I didn’t really know where to start, I did lots of research on other brands and read about their journey into the business. It was encouragement and motivation that kept me going. I also keep a journal to track my progression!
What distinguishes Luna Skincare from other natural organic skincare brands?
Luna Skincare is a unique brand, as majority of my products are coffee based, infused with arabica coffee.
Why Arabica coffee? Coffee has lots of health benefits for the skin such as breakouts, reduces scars, and contains anti-aging properties. Luna only uses best quality to give your skin the perfect glow.
Luna Skincare is all about natural ingredients. Majority of my products contain coffee infused with the best oil to nourish your skin. We ground our coffee beans ourselves so it takes a lot of time but it is worth it as my aim is to produce best quality skincare. My favourite product is Cacao Coffee & Clay Face Mask.
Why do potential customers need your skincare range?
Luna Skincare products is suitable for all skin types. It’s safe for everyone to use; it’s also better suited for sensitive skin.
Share your personal skincare routine and how should people be looking after their skin?
I exfoliate three times a week, use Cacao coffee face mask three times a week. I also use Luna vitamin C oil then I use Luna Shea Glow (whipped shea butter). I keep my skin care routine simple.
Where do you see the business in five years?
In five years to expand worldwide and be on everyone’s bathroom shelves!
