Ariana Grande’s “Thank U, Next” sets new records in music

Let’s set records straight, the Billboard Woman of the Year in music is saying ‘Thank You’ for making her newly released video for her hit single “Thank U, next” from her upcoming fifth studio album with same name as the most viewed musical video on YouTube in 24 hours after its official release.

The video has so far streamed over 47 million views and still counting, surpassing BTS, Idol, Visuals, which placed first back in August with a total of 45 million views in 24 hours of its release. The latest smashing record breaking of Grande only adds up to her already “Thank U, Next” record of 829,000 simultaneous views for a YouTube premiere and a Vevo record break with 50 million views in the first 24 hours.

Sharing in on the success of her music video, Grande tweeted, ” p.s. we set a new @vevo record. that’s wild. I love u. thank u.”

The “Thank U, Next” music video features a recreation of several scenes form popular Hollywood films such as, Mean Girls, Bring It On, Legally Blonde and 13 Going on 30. Grande stars in the visuals of the song alongside some original cast members of the Mean Girls film, Jonathan Bennett and Stefanie Drummond, singer Troye Sivan, YouTuber Gabi Demartino and many more all making a cameo.

“Thank U, Next” is a 2018 single by Grande paying homage to her past lovers Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, Pete Davidson and the late Mac Miller for all the experiences taught her in their relationship. Grande will be honored with the Billboard Woman of the Year award on Thursday, December 6, New York city.
