A breakdown of musical concerts and shows for the festive season

Today marks the kick start of the festive occasion, which comes along with the lighting up of Christmas trees brightening stands of gift shops, hotels, restaurants to the corridors and living room of every home.

Just as churches will be filled with practitioners singing carol songs to celebrate the birth of Christ along with the church choirs, the conference centre, fantasy dome, hotel auditoriums and large parks are also gearing up to host the most laudable artists’ headliners of all time as they treat and entertain their audience with the best versions of their songs, which topped charts this year. Movie lovers are also not left out this festive season as their favourite stars are coming in to help flood their phone galleries for a Christmas wallpaper change.

21st December – Vitamilk Efya Girl talk: The Loud Concert

The National Theatre tonight is ready to host the four-time female vocalist winner as she makes a return on the big Girl Talk stage after her supposed bow-out concert last year. The expectation of the all-female concert to see her deliver will definitely not be shattered, neither rated low as she has proven with her past three concerts to be the best bet Girl Talk ever had as a headliner.

23rd December – Shay Concert

No doubt one of the most talked about female artists in Ghana this year, the first lady of Rufftown records, Wendy Shay is all set to thrill her Shaylovers for an unforgettable night at the La Pleasure Beach come this Sunday. With just GHC 20 as access, fans will dance to the tunes of her popular songs, Uber driver, bedroom commando, psalm 23 and many more. The Shay concert will have on stage performers such as, KiDi, Kuami Eugene, King Promise, Kwesi Arthur, Nana Boro, Sista Afia, Eno etc.

23rd December – Manifestivities 2018

A blend of rap, hip-hop, R&B, contemporary highlife will be in the works at the Manifestivities 2018 concert. The god MC himself is the front headliner and nothing less can be expected looking at the supporting artistes. If you don’t get enough of Efya at the Girl Talk concert, you can make it a date with her again at the Manfestivities show, just saying!

24th December – Getting Married movie premiere

Arguably the movie of the year with a cast list worthy enough to host an Africa Movie Academy award show. Your decade-based actors namely; Jackie Appiah, Nadia Buari, John Dumelo, Kalsume Sinare, Lydia Forson, Fiifi Coleman and more will hit cinemas once again on Monday 24th December, to give movie lovers the Christmas movie they’ve been waiting for.

25th December – Sarkodie’s Rapperholic concert

It’s never a successful festive season without a Rapperholic concert. For most single ladies and gentlemen as well as couples and organised families, their Christmas evening is better spent with the king of rap music Sarkodie at the Accra international conference centre. Every year and how he does it, ranging from the rap lyrics he flows with and the top line-up of colleague artists he brings on board. The show this year will be hosted by ace broadcaster and first lady of the cheerleaders’ club of Sarkodie, Nana Aba Anamoah.

28th December – Bhim Concert

If you ever thought you got satisfied with Stonebwoy’s performances at concerts headlined this year, then consider again. The president of the Bhimnation fan army is poised for another spectacular back-to-back performance at the largest auditorium in Ghana, Fantasy Dome. If the president of the Republic of Ghana himself, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo has received his invite and congratulated him on his stage craft, then we simply do not know what will keep you away on the 28th this month.

28th December – Reign Thanksgiving Concert

After filling the Fantasy Dome on his reign album launch, Shatta Wale is up with a free thanksgiving show in appreciation to his unending fan army dubbed ‘Reign thanksgiving concert’. Much is not to be said because everyone is a witness to the soldier performance of Shatta Wale when he hits the stage.

29th December – Ghana Rocks

Dubbed the official shutdown party of the year, Ghana Rocks returns on the 29th after taking a year break from the conference center, but the newest change lies in the change of venue from the traditional Accra International Conference center to the Fantasy Dome. International act Jidenna, Nigeria’s bad boy Burna Boy and our very own Fuse ODG, KiDi, Kuami Eugene, Kwesi Arthur, King Promise, R2bees and Medikal will headline the concert to mark its return on the Christmas shows’ calendar.

29th December – Amakye Dede Live in concert

On the flip side from the centre of musical concerts to the Ashanti region is the Amakye Dede live in concert show to celebrate 45 years of activeness in highlife music. Coming in with a tall list of highlife gurus beneath him in terms of industry presence. Together with the rap king Sarkodie and actor Lil Win, Amakye Dede is ready to bring spectators to a wow! night.

30th December – Ghana Movie Awards

Yes! Your favourites have been nominated and it’s now time to book the gowns and suits for a night of glam. Ghana Movie Awards returns this year and its already buzzing, thanks its A-list nominee contenders we are sure will grace the occasion.
