The best and good from Cannes over the last decade

 

The Cannes Film Festival is best known for two things: blockbuster film premieres and memorable red-carpet glamour. For the past 73 years of existence, every major star in Hollywood that has walked the prestigious Cannes staircase in the French Rivera has placed second to none, knowing for a fact that the whole world is watching and as such no room for less effort. Once present for a photo call, screening, premiere or after party, the main objective is to make a statement amidst the pool of film stars and supermodels gracing the ceremony.

The past decade has not been different from the previously witnessed editions. Global star houses such as Nicole Kidman, Lupita Nyong’o, Cate Blanchett, Aisharya Rai, Elle Fanning, Rita Ora and more have taken the Cannes red carpet’s reputation on another level owning to their selected gowns and couture pieces that walked the carpet.

This time within the year would have been another season of Cannes elegance, but due to the novel COVID-19 virus, the lights are shut out inside the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, the home of Cannes.

In honour of what would have been Cannes 2020, we take a deep dive below inside the closet of the festival’s red carpet best and good over the last decade.
