Stonebwoy,Sarkodie, Guilty Beatz & more win big for Ghana at AFRIMA 2018

Under one roof at the Accra International Conference Center, November 24, came alive the final showdown of the week long scheduled All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) 2018.

Big names in the music arena from the African continent made their appearance to celebrate the hard work of the year under reviews produced songs. 36 categories were up for grabs, which saw at the end, host nation, Ghana, grabbing 8 wins by its leading artiste, Stonebwoy (Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Reggae & Dancehall- Hero), Shatta Wale (Best African Video – Gringo), KiDi ( Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Contemporary – Odo remix), Sarkodie (Best Male Artiste in African Inspirational Music- Glory), M.anifest (Best Artiste, Duo or Group in African Hip Hop- Me Ne Woa), Kuami Eugene (Most Promising Artiste in West Africa – Confusion) and  music producer Guilty Beatz (Song of the Year & Best African Collaboration of the Year- Akwaaba).

Davido emerged the ultimate winner of the night as he was named African Artiste of the Year. South African celebrated icon of all time, Yvonne Chaka Chaka received the 5th AFRIMA Legendary Award, for her massive consistency in showbiz for over 30 years. Teddy Osei, lead singer of the Osibisa music group back in the 70s also received an honorary recognition award and Executive Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode was also awarded a special recognition for his contributions towards the growth and development of the Arts and Tourism sector in Lagos state at the initial stages of AFRIMA.

Jackie Appiah, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, Lydia Forson, John Dumelo, Van Vicker, Salma Mumin, Moesha Boduong, were among the lot of celebrities present at the occasion. The show was hosted by media personality Anita Erskine, South African show hostess Pearl Thusi and Ghanaian born-American based actor/comedian Michael Blackson.
