Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment inks first-look TV deal with Amazon

Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment has inked a first-look TV deal with Amazon.

According to Variety, the deal will have Robbie together with her company’s founding partners Tom Acklerley and Josey McNamara develop television projects that will premiere exclusively on Amazon Prime Video.

“We are so thrilled to be partnering with Amazon Studios to bring original content to the ever-burgeoning television landscape. Our hope with LuckyChap has always been to challenge narrative conformity whilst offering a platform to exciting and often overlooked voices,” said company leaders Robbie, Tom and Josey in a joint statement. “In Amazon we have a cultural partner who shares our passion for storytelling and through its global reach allows us and our collaborators to reach as many viewers as possible. This is the start of a very exciting journey for the company and one that we are incredibly proud to be taking with the wonderful Amazon team.”

“LuckyChap has produced sharply original, smart, and wholly engaging content over the past several years, across an incredible range of genres, and centering multifaceted, unique female characters. We’re very excited for the chance to work with Tom, Josey, Margot and Brett to create new series with the same kind of vision and focus for our Prime Video customers,” added Amazon Studios’ co-head of TV Albert Cheng

Film works from the camp of LuckyChap includes, ‘I, Tonya’, ‘Dreamland’ and ‘Terminal’. At the 2018 Oscars, ‘I, Tonya’ was a big mention in the acting categories, where Robbie and her co-star Allison Janney received nods for best actress and best supporting actress respectively.  Janney won that year against equally big names Mary J. Blige, Octavia Spencer, Laurie Metcalf and Lesley Manville.

On the TV side, LuckyChap produces the Hulu series ‘Dollface’ and the upcoming Netflix series ‘Maids’.

Robbie now joins the slate of onscreen Hollywood figures such as, Nicole Kidman and Michael B. Jordan to have landed exclusive deals with Amazon Studios.

LuckyChap Entertainment is repped by CAA, Management 360, attorney Jeff Bernstein, and Narrative.
