Ghana to host 2018 AFRIMA Awards

Our heads are swollen with pride as our dearly beloved country Ghana has been unveiled as official host for the 2018 All Africa music Awards (AFRIMA), one of music’s biggest award festivals in Africa.

The announcement was made in an official launch yesterday at the Kempinski Gold Coast City, Accra which had musical arts such as Stonebwoy, Samini, King Promise, Kuame Eugene, Feli Nuna and  host of many others grace the occasion.

Mr. Mike Dada, president of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) disclosed at the launch that the purpose of AFRIMA is to serve as a communication tool and as such, uses the power of superstars to communicate with the rest of the world. “We use the power of superstars to communicate the beauty, glamour, positive side of Africa continent to the rest of the world.”

With a large percentage of musicians from all boarders of Africa soon to make an appearance in the country come November 21-24, Mr. Mike continued that the AFRIMA host country, Ghana, will also benefit as opportunities in the tourist sector will be opened and well patronized by foreigners, “The AFRIMA program of events provides the opportunity for Ghana to showcase the unique artistic tourism and economic potentials of her cultural dynamic and beautiful cities. The program goes further to offer benefits that would help in raising the continental and international profile of the Host country, including an opportunity to tap into the millions of participants and followers of the growing African music.”

The Honorable Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture for Ghana, Hon. Catherine Afeku also welcomed the organizers of the show and added that Ghana is ready to take Africa by storm, and deliberated on how music in Africa can promote peace and message to the rest of the world. “We are ready to take Africa by storm. The narrative of Africa must change, and changed through music. We can use music as conduit for peace, we can use music to send strong signal to the rest of the world, that our young people are talented, intelligent and the hope for the next generation.”

She therefore encouraged stakeholders in the music and creative arts industry at large to brace themselves as advocates for the event come November 21-24, “Let us in November carry the Ghana Beyond Aid message through music. I entreat each and every one of you to be an advocate. This is going to be the independence of music.”
