The Indian-American fairy tale of a love story is getting to its prime of nuptials as the Indian born, Hollywood actress, Priyanka Chopra and her 26-year-old Grammy nominated singer Nick Jonas will complete the final stages of their week-long festive wedding on Sunday, December 2.
In what started as a text message flirting for both parties has now landed into a soon to be Mr & Mrs Jonas portfolio just after three dates, Chopra tells Vogue. The wedding activities started on Monday, November 26, in Mumbai with a dinner party. On Wednesday, November 27, the traditional puja ceremony was held in the home of Chopra’s mother in Mumbai to mark celebrations ahead of Sunday’s nuptials. All guests present regardless nationality dressed in the Indian cultural ensemble to celebrate with the couple.
The final ceremony (wedding) will take place on Sunday, December 2, as two ceremonies will be held- a traditional Indian wedding for the Hindu party and a Christian service to be officiated by Jonas’s father, who doubles as a Christian priest. Each of these ceremonies will be held in different locations at Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhavan Palace.
Reports indicate that, the bride-to-be Chopra will wear a Ralph Lauren custom made gown to walk down the isle. The festivities will also hold a mehendi ceremony and sangeet party, a haldi ceremony and a cocktail party to house the couple and their families at the end of everything.
Guests with their wedding invites must be in for a long weekend of back-to-back ceremony after ceremony as Chopra describes the weekend as something people will opt for vacation after their return, she says in an interview with Vogue, “People will need vacations after the wedding.”
