A non-debatable aspect about Burna Boy’s flagging career is his driving speed for global domination. With two Grammy nominations under his belt, Burna Boy’s song ‘Destiny’ has been added to the official playlist for the inauguration of President elect Joe Biden and Vice President elect Kamala Harris.
‘Destiny’ will play alongside a host of other songs from Beyoncé, Kendrick Lamar, Stevie Wonder, Dua Lipa, Tame Impala, Kygo among others.
The playlist was curated by record label Raedio and Derrick Jones, who is best known in showbiz circles as DJ D-Nice.
“We know that music has the power to bring people together, and after a year of national challenges and division, we hope this collection serves as an indication of a new beginning, positive change, and a reminder that music of all types is a common language,” disclosed Benoni Tagoe, president of Raedio.
“These songs and artists reflect the relentless spirit and rich diversity of America,” said Presidential Inaugural Committee CEO Tony Allen in a statement. “They are the score to a new chapter and will help bring people together as the Biden-Harris Administration begins its important work to unite our country.”
Burna Boy’s international appearances include live performances on American shows such as Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Currently a Grammy nominee in the Best Global Music Album category for ‘Twice as Tall’, Burna Boy holds on record as the only artist from Nigeria to have attained such feat in Grammy history.
Twice has he been placed on a curated playlist by former US President Barrack Obama. His track ‘Be Honest’ was part of the Obama 2020 Summer Playlist. Prior to that his ‘Anybody’ track off his ‘African Giant’ album was also featured on the Obama best songs of 2020 track list.
