The 4th annual 3Music Awards were handed out last Saturday, March 27. ‘Say Cheese’ hit maker KiDi was awarded Artist of the year, plus three other mentions including Song of the year (Enjoyment).
Tied up as the most awarded artiste of the evening with KiDi is celebrated act Stonebwoy, who picked up Album of the year (Anjola Junction), Viral song of the year (Putuu Freestyle), Reggae Dancehall song of the year (African Party) and Highlife song of the year (Sobolo).
Next to the acts with most wins was Gospel sensation Diana Hamilton, feted with three bragging rights as Gospel artist of the year, Gospel song of the year (Adom) and Best female vocal performance of the year (Adom).
Heading into the night, Sarkodie led the pack as the most nominated artist with thirteen mentions in total, but only won two hardware trophies for Hiplife song of the year (Bumper) and Performance of the year (CEEK).
Securing a major win for female rap artists in the country was Eno Barony, who walked home with the Rapper of the year badge, while Alternative artist Amaarae won Video of the year (Fancy) despite losing the Best alternative song category to Worlasi (Comot).
The ceremony was hosted by media personalities Jay Foley and Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku. Two-time Glitz Style Awards best dressed celebrity on the red carpet (2016 and 2017) Nana Akua Addo, Harold Amenyah and Miss Malaika 2020, Jasmine Djang, were among the night’s presenters.
